Of course there are always people that pretend to be psychic to have their way with credulous believers and their money. However, these individuals should not be the cause for anyone to dismiss the existence of such abilities, certainly not in this time and age where research into such abilities is growing and the evidence of their existence is unmistakable.
Every once in a while, you get the feeling that the phone is going to ring... and it does. Or you know who it is that is calling... and you are right. A song is playing in your head; you turn on the radio, and there it is... the same song. You are overwhelmed, somehow, with the feeling that a close friend or relative is in trouble or needs your help at that moment... and you soon learn that is actually the case.
Are these examples of mere coincidence? Or is there something more profound taking place? Extrasensory perception (ESP) means that the human being is capable of knowing information that has not been processed through the five senses: seeing, smelling, tasting, hearing or feeling. Ultimately the brain is capable of processing information that didn't come from the five senses. In fact it is continuously processing information, most of which we are unaware of. While our brain is processing 400 billion bits of information every second, we are only aware of 2000 of these bits of information.
If, then, psychic abilities are simply the ability of the brain to process certain information, then it is obvious that we all have the ability for ESP, because we all have the same brain structure. Perhaps, then, it is not so much an issue of ‘you have it or you don't,’ but a question of how to become aware of the information that is continuously being processed by the brain. Now that it is clear that the brain processes large amounts of information, it is more a matter of HOW DO WE ACCESS THIS INFORMATION?
